Gletta was born in 1985 when the first foals by Gassi frá Vorsabær II were born. She was started by Björn Jónsson at Vorsabær and was shown as a 6-year-old at the regional breeding show in Hella. She received 7,68 for conformation, 8,03 for riding abilities, and 7,86 as a total score. As for conformation, the judges criticized her proportions (7,0), but her gaits were even and pleasing, with 8,5 for flying pace as her highest score. Gletta was shown only once and was since then used for breeding. In her career as a breeding mare, there were two years when she was without a foal, so she was shoed and used for riding, being very popular among children and others on the farm.
