This 2-hour small-group horseback riding tour takes place at our Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland. After meeting your guide in the riding hall, riders are matched with suitable horses and introduced to fundamental riding techniques before heading outdoors together.

With additional time in the saddle, the route allows for a longer exploration of farmland and natural terrain between Selfoss and Flúðir. Icelandic horses are known for their steady temperament and smooth Tölt gait, and depending on group ability and conditions, riders may experience longer stretches of this unique gait.

Tour Description

The small-group 2-hour tour offers a more immersive riding experience while remaining accessible to riders with little to moderate experience. The extended duration allows participants to build confidence, settle into a comfortable rhythm, and explore more of the countryside surrounding the farm.

Group sizes remain limited to ensure personal guidance throughout the ride. The landscape reflects daily life at a family-run breeding farm rather than a high-volume riding operation, offering open views and varied but manageable terrain.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.

What to Expect

  • You will meet your guide and fellow riders at the riding hall and receive a short safety introduction. Helmets are mandatory and provided. Riders are shown how to mount and handle their horse before leaving the stable area.

  • Horses are selected based on rider size, confidence, and experience. Our Icelandic horses are well-trained, calm, and responsive.

  • Once comfortable, the group rides out into the open countryside surrounding the farm. The longer duration allows for a broader route across farmland and natural terrain between Selfoss and Flúðir, with pacing adapted to the group.

  • After returning to the stable area, there is time to dismount safely and ask questions about the horses and farm life.

Why Ride at Vorsabær II

Vorsabær II is a working Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland, not a high-volume riding stable. Horses are bred, raised, and trained on the farm, and riding experiences take place alongside daily farm life rather than in a commercial riding center.
