Location
VORSABÆR II
This 2-hour private horseback riding experience at Vorsabær II takes place at our Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland. After meeting your guide in the riding hall, you are matched with a suitable horse and introduced to fundamental riding techniques before heading outdoors.
With additional time in the saddle, the route allows for a longer exploration of the surrounding farmland and natural terrain between Selfoss and Flúðir. Depending on experience and conditions, riders may settle into a steady rhythm and experience more of the Icelandic horse’s smooth Tölt gait while still maintaining a comfortable pace.
Tour Description
The private 2-hour tour is designed for riders who would like more time to connect with their horse and experience the landscape at a relaxed pace. With your guide focused solely on your group, instruction and speed are adapted to your comfort level, allowing beginners to build confidence while giving returning riders the opportunity for a more dynamic ride.
The extended duration allows you to explore further into the countryside surrounding the farm, with open views and varied terrain that reflect daily life at a family-run breeding farm rather than a high-volume riding operation.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time.
What to Expect
-
You will meet your guide at the riding hall and receive a short safety introduction. Helmets are mandatory and provided. Riders are shown how to mount and handle their horse before leaving the stable area.

Horses are selected based on rider size, confidence, and experience. Our Icelandic horses are well-trained, calm, and responsive.
-
Once comfortable, you ride out into the open countryside surrounding the farm. The longer duration allows for a more immersive route across farmland and natural terrain between Selfoss and Flúðir. Riders may experience a longer stretch of tölt depending on ability and conditions.

Why Ride at Vorsabær II
Vorsabær II is a working Icelandic horse breeding farm in South Iceland, not a high-volume riding operation. Horses are bred, raised, and trained on the farm, and riding experiences take place alongside daily farm life rather than in a commercial riding center.
